The murder charges leveled against a 14-year-old child bride, Wasilu Umaru has finally being lifted and the girl is now free. Wasilu Umaru killed her 35-year-old husband because she did not love him and was forced to marry him.
According to BBC, the Kano State attorney general stated that the case would be dropped because Umaru is a minor, and also because the victim’s family have forgiven her.
Reports further state that “charges against the girl will be formally dropped once the court receives either a written or oral presentation from the office of Kano’s attorney general.”
